Vietnam’s Son Doong Cave to be seen in 360° images by NatGeo

TuoiTreNews -  Son Doong,  the world’s largest cave, located in central Vietnam, will be featured in 360-degree images in a historic project funded by National Geographic Magazine – the leader in featuring stories about the exploration of natural and heritage sites around the world. Although the magazine has already published a story and images of the cave, located in UNESCO-recognized Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh Province, it continued to carry out the Son Doong 360 project late last month for further detailed publications. The cave has made  headlines  in other famous media outlets, including national television channels from Japan, Germany, the U.S., England, Italy, and Spain, apart from NatGeo, which publishes nine million copies a month in 33 languages.

Zip line to be launched in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park

(Quang Binh Website) - According to information from the Phong Nha - Ke Bang Tourism Center, system of zip line at Chay River - Dark Cave tourism route with a total investment of nearly VND7 billion has recently put into operation in the Phong Nha - Ke Bang National Park.   This is a new type of tourism service, contributing to diversifying tourism products, meeting the demand of foreign and domestic visitors coming to the heritage sites in particular and Quang Binh in general.

The mud and the darkness

Examined by British Royal explorers in 1990 and 1992, its entry way is 20 metres wide and 40 metres high. The cave is 5,258 metres long, and the ceiling inside is up to 80 metres high. Like many other caves in Phong Nha - Ke Bang area, it has a dry part and a submerged part. The darkness inside the cave is thick, much thicker than in other caves. So thick that one feels one can scoop it. That’s why people call it the Dark Cave.

Truong An Ninh, a spokesman for Quang Binh Province, said Wednesday that real estate and resort developer Sun Group based in nearby Da Nang City has asked to survey the Phong Nha – Ke Bang national park and install the system, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reported. The four-section route of 10.6 kilometers would serve a resort complex that Sun Group plans in the area, the newspaper said, citing an unidentified source.
