Foreign spouses of Vietnamese to enjoy visa waiver in November

TuoiTreNews.vn - Foreigners married to Vietnamese nationals or to Vietnamese people who reside overseas will be entitled to a visa-free policy when entering Vietnam from mid-November onward. The foreign wives, husbands or children of Vietnamese who reside in other countries, or of Vietnamese nationals who live in Vietnam, will be eligible for the visa waiver, to be in place on November 15, according to a government decree. Overseas Vietnamese will also be freed from visa requirements upon entrance to their home country. Those who want to benefit from such a visa-free policy will need to present documents proving that they are either overseas Vietnamese; foreigners married to overseas Vietnamese; or foreigners married to Vietnamese nationals who reside in Vietnam, according to the decree.

Turkish Airlines to offer nonstop Vietnam service in mid-2016: CEO

TuoiTreNews.vn - A nonstop service between Vietnam and Turkey is slated for launch in July 2016, the chief executive officer of the European country’s national flag carrier said Wednesday. The straight route will spare passengers the connecting flights in Thailand, Turkish Airlines CEO Temel Kotil said at a meeting with a Vietnamese delegation in Istanbul.

Storm to hit Da Nang-Quang Ngai in central Vietnam today

TuoiTreNews.vn - A storm packing winds of up to 75km per hour is heading for central Vietnam and may hit the coast between Da Nang City and Quang Ngai Province this evening, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting. At 8:00 am on Monday, the storm was being centered about 140km east of the coast between Da Nang and Quang Ngai, carrying winds of 60-75kph, with gusts of up to 102kph. The storm is moving west at 15kph.

Duty-free shopping to be allowed on Vietnam-bound flights in November

TuoiTreNews.vn - Passengers will be allowed to purchase duty-free goods onboard their international flights bound for Vietnam starting November, when a new tax-free shopping regulation takes effect. The new rule, approved by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and which will become effective on November 1, is applicable to domestic airlines, or those that are established and operate as per the Vietnamese law. A Vietjet attendant sells goods to a passenger on board a flight. As per the current rule, businesses are only allowed to sell duty-free goods at international airports in Vietnam and on board flights that depart from the country.

As a result I have to  get a new visa  on a regular basis. One way to do this is to go on a border run to Cambodia and back, which I did recently. Ho Chi Minh City offers boat tour of Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal

TuoiTreNews.vn - Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism and Saigon Boat JSC on Tuesday launched the first boat tour service with two options for journeys in the Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe Canal. With the two-hour tour, tourists will pay VND220,000 (US$9.7) and VND110,000 ($4.84) respectively for a one-way trip ticket. For the first option, they can sit around a table and have food or drinks allowed to be brought along when traveling aboard the Gondola boat, which is able to carry 4-5 passengers each time.
